Our Name

We are named after Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury of the United States. While probably best known as the face on the $10 bill and for his fatal duel with Aaron Burr, Hamilton holds a special place in U.S. history.

Hamilton created the Bank of the United States and the Bank of New York and set in place many of the banking and economic policies that laid the foundation for the strong economic growth of the new nation. He envisioned a nation where citizens could rise and succeed based on effort and talent, rather than social standing or family connections.
